In some of the camps over here, you have to write a paper about why you'd like to attend the camp. If you have a good and convincing paper, then you're accepted.
So far, I'll be attending a sports camp in May, and an independent living skills camp in June.
I had to write a paper to get accepted into this sports camp. Lots of students want to go, but they don't do first come, first serve. They just judge you by reading your paper to see how determined you are.

and what is the outcome of these camps? are they qualifications? it seems a big thing among the blind community in the US.

Hmm, they're not really for qualifications. Most of them are just leisure camps and some of them are educational. Like, I'm going to Youth Slam this year, and they're focus is on math and science, so they're for students who are interested in that field. SO its more of an educational thing.

it is about some education and leisure . But I do have to say that even though you go too an education camp it is not all learning. Sometimes they make learning fun and you don't know that you are learning. And sometimes they do things that are just fun!
I posted this because I wanted to know what kinds of camps there are around the US.
